Start Healing Now with a Diabetes Assessment
Imagine if you could receive a regular report card that scores different areas of your health. It would give you clarity on what is going on with your body, and take the guesswork out of diabetes care.
At North Houston Diabetes Institute, we have made that a reality. Our advanced technology screens you in several key areas to produce a digital report card of the results. This report card includes a numerical score for each category and uses a color system to make it simple and easy to interpret. On your report card, green-colored areas highlight where you are doing well, and red-colored areas reveal where your body is suffering. Dr. Juan Carlos Zubieta uses the information on your digital report card to design a personalized plan for your diabetes care.
The best part of the diabetes assessment is that you can complete it and have your digital report card within just a few minutes.
How is the diabetes assessment performed?
During the diabetes assessment, an interactive touchscreen monitor will guide you through a series of questions to get to the bottom of the symptoms that are affecting you. You will also participate in tests to examine your eyesight quality and foot function. Any sensitivity, pain or numbness you feel will be carefully noted. Finally, the physician will collect a blood and urine sample for the system to analyze, and take a blood pressure measurement. Results are calculated and displayed on the screen for you almost immediately.
What does the diabetes assessment look for?
The diabetes assessment looks for damage to body systems that are typically affected by diabetes. When detected early, there is a much better chance of correcting these complications by altering the course of your treatment. While there is no cure for diabetes, the problems it causes can be reduced or avoided entirely.
The components of our diabetes assessment are:
- Hemoglobin level
- Hypoglycemia level
- 10-year cardiovascular risk projection
- Renal function
- Foot function
- Blood pressure.
What happens after the diabetes assessment?
Once you receive a digital report card, Dr. Juan Carlos Zubieta will review the results with you in detail and let you know the next steps for your personalized diabetes management plan. You will complete follow-up assessments at regular intervals to monitor your progress.
